The 6424 Beam Detector is designed to give full
protection to high, open areas in which the
effectiveness of conventional point type detectors is
reduced. Operating on the obscuration principle, the
6424 is capable of detecting a wide range of fire types
from slow smouldering to fast flaming fires.
The beam detector consists of a separate transmitter and
receiver units which are mounted on opposite sides of
the area to be protected - maximum distance 100m. An
infra-red light beam is projected from the transmitter to
the receiver which, in turn, monitors the intensity of the
light signal. Smoke entering the beam path reduces the
intensity of the signal and an alarm will be raised when
the level reaches the pre-set alarm threshold.
The 6424 utilises microprocessor technology to both
simplify the installation and increase overall system
reliability. Alignment of the unit is facilitated by four
LED indicators which show the received signal strength,
thereby eliminating the need for special tools or meters.
Fire and Fault relays are provided for connection to the
fire alarm panel.
Both transmitter and receiver are supplied with wall and
ceiling mounting brackets giving a wide range of
adjustment.
